SimpleGIF is a free, browser-based tool that converts videos to GIFs and compresses videos. Your media files are processed entirely on your own device using WebAssembly — they are never uploaded to us or to any server. We do not have a backend that receives your files, and we never see, store, or transmit them.
We do, however, use third-party services (Google Analytics and Google AdSense) that collect standard usage and advertising data as described below.
All video processing happens locally in your browser. The files you drop into SimpleGIF stay on your device. They are not sent to us, not stored, and not shared with anyone. Closing the tab discards them from memory.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, device type, approximate location, referring site). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects your IP address and usage events. This helps us improve the product. We do not use it to identify you personally.
You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. SimpleGIF itself does not set any cookies. However, the third-party scripts we load — Google Analytics and Google AdSense — do set cookies in your browser for analytics and advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect how ads are shown but will not affect video conversion, which runs locally.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we display a consent message (via a Google-certified Consent Management Platform) before serving personalized ads or setting non-essential cookies. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to opt out of certain processing. Since we do not store your files or maintain accounts, most requests relate to the analytics and advertising cookies described above, which you can control using the opt-out links provided.
SimpleGIF is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, with the “Last updated” date revised.
